FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Occupied Stolen Vehicle PPD Case 24-0867
Date: September 30, 2024
On 09/30/24 at about 11:23 PM. Paradise Police Officer Wood was working patrol on the Pentz Road
corridor when she observed a vehicle towed southbound, via a car dolly in the area of Pearson Road.
The vehicle displayed expired registration and Officer Wood conducted a records check on the
vehicle. A records request revealed an active DOJ stop on the vehicle for a stolen vehicle hit out
of Chico, CA.
Officer Wood conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle related to the information and contacted the
driver of the tow vehicle, identified as 60 year old Floyd Patterson, a resident of North
Highlands, CA. as well as Kirk Addington, a 64 year old resident of Magalia.
Patterson admitted to trailering the vehicle to the Sacramento area in an attempt to "Junk" the
vehicle for money. Due to the circumstances and the confirmation of the stolen vehicle, Patterson
was placed under arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle. The stolen vehicle was recovered and
towed from the area for later release to the owner. Patterson was later booked into the Butte
County Jail for a single felony violation.
The investigation further determined facts consistent with Chop shop operations and the
investigation was forwarded to CHP for further investigation.
