For Immediate Release: 25-0032 Narcotics Arrest While Armed

On the above date, at about 10:24 PM, Paradise Police Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle parked in the 7700 block of Skyway, just north of Bille Road.
On arrival, officers located an unresponsive male in the driver’s seat. Officers opened the door to check the welfare of the male and located drug paraphernalia in plain view. The officer was able to wake the male up and he was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. The male was identified as 72-year-old Richard Myers, a former Paradise resident, currently living in Crescent City.
A further search of Myers’ vehicle discovered three ounces of suspected methamphetamine, hidden in a secret compartment, a digital scale, a small amount of suspected heroin, a loaded semi-automatic firearm, and an unloaded revolver.
Myers was booked into Butte County Jail on charges of 11379 HS (Transportation of a Controlled Substance for Sale), 11378(a) HS (Possess Controlled Substance for Sale), 11370.1(a) HS (Possess Controlled Substance while Armed), 25850(a) (Carry Loaded Firearm in a vehicle), 11350(a) HS (Possession of Narcotic Controlled Substance), and 11364(a) HS (Possession of Unlawful Paraphernalia).
