For Immediate Release: PPD Case 25-0232, Armed Subject

Date: March 20, 2025

On 03/20/2025 at approximately 3:53 AM, PPD officers responded to the Paradise Boutique Apartments, located at 5900 Canyon View Drive on a report of a subject who was intoxicated, armed with a sword, actively damaging property and suffering from hallucinations.

PPD officers arrived on scene and immediately began a search for the subject throughout the large two-story complex. A short time later, a 41 year-old male Paradise resident was located by PPD officers and detained on the first floor. Officers continued clearing the building and located only a discharged fire extinguisher. A subsequent sweep determined this was an isolated incident and no other suspects or victims were located.

Upon the completion of the investigation, it was determined the reporting party did not want to pursue charges against the subject. The subject was determined to be suffering from an acute mental health crisis and was placed on a mental health hold. The subject was later transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
