PRESS RELEASE- 8/16/23- REPORT OF BOMB AT PARADISE HIGH SCHOOL

Date: August 16, 2023

On 08/16/2023, around 0745 hours, the Paradise Police Department received information from the Paradise High School regarding a message about a bomb in a classroom at the school. School staff and Paradise Police Officers investigated the source of the message and spoke to several students and parents. The message appeared to be generated over the weekend over a group discussion on the Snapchat App. A screenshot of the message passed through several individuals before reaching the school administration.

A search of the campus did not locate any suspicious items consistent with the use of explosives. During the investigation conducted by the Paradise Police Department and the PUSD Administration, officers were unable to establish a credible threat to PHS students and/or staff. The investigation to determine the source of the original message is ongoing. If anyone in the community has information about the source of the message, or who may have participated in the Snapchat messaging group, please contact the Paradise Police Department.
