Preliminary Investigation:

After conducting several interviews of those involved, along with uninvolved witnesses, the following has been determined: (Names are still being withheld has this is an ongoing investigation)

At approximately 2 AM, during an argument and subsequent physical altercation, a 32-year-old Oroville resident, shot at and fatally wounded a 21-year-old Magalia resident.

The District Attorney's Office is actively involved in this investigation, assisting the Paradise Police Department. The Paradise Police Department greatly appreciates the assistance provided by the Butte County Sheriff's Office, the California Department of Justice, and the District Attorney's Office.

The 32-year-old Oroville resident has been booked into the Butte County Jail on one count of 187(a) PC, Murder.

Next of kin has been notified, and we grieve the loss of life with family and friends.

Preliminary Investigation:

 

At approximately 2:20 AM, Paradise Dispatch received a 911 call reporting subjects were shooting guns, and someone had been shot near the intersection of Pentz Road and Drayer Drive.

The names of the involved have been withheld as this is an active investigation.

Paradise police responded and found several people present, to include one victim who had been shot. The victim was assessed by officers and medical personnel and found to be deceased.

The shooter is in custody and the scene has been rendered safe. California, Department of Justice, Crime Scene Investigators are actively processing the scene.
