On October 24, 2023, at 3:42 PM Paradise Police investigated a report of identity theft involving a Paradise resident. The victim reported her credit card was possibly lost/stolen on October 4, 2023, at Subway in Paradise, and later used to purchase several items online at Wayfair.com. According to the victim, at least one of the fraudulently purchased items, identified as an area rug, was delivered to a local address in Paradise.

On November 7, 2023, officers responded to the local address and contacted 37-year-old Paradise resident Tabbitha Pennock. Pennock told officers a rug was mistakenly delivered to her front porch. Pennock told officers she attempted to speak with neighbors in an attempt to find the rightful delivery location but was unsuccessful. At the time of the investigation, Officers collected the rug as evidence but were unable to develop enough probable cause to arrest Pennock (23-0790).

On November 20, 2023, at 1:39 PM Officers responded to Subway in Paradise on a report of a burglary at the location. Management reported money was taken from the register, as well as several cans of tea, after the business had closed the previous evening. No signs of forced entry were located. While reviewing video surveillance officers observed a female suspect use a key to make entry into the business and then turn the alarm system off. Upon further investigation, officers learned of a former employee who had recently quit, identified as Tabbitha Pennock (23-0876). Based on the connection of Pennock to the two separate incidents, PPD detectives obtained a search warrant for Pennock's residence.

On November 27, 2023, Paradise Detectives served the search warrant at the residence of Tabbitha Pennock. During a search of the home detectives located several cans of tea believed to have been taken from Subway on the evening of the burglary.
