Press Release: Suspicious Circumstances Result in Arrest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On the evening of Sunday, August 4, 2024, at about 6:30 PM, an alert citizen noticed a suspicious male climb over the fence of a local school. The citizen called Paradise Police and described the man as a white male adult with a backpack.

Responding officers conducted a search of the area. The described male was located a short distance up Pentz Rd at Dean Rd. Officers contacted the male, identified as 41-year-old Paul Featherstone of Woodland, CA. Paul claimed to be in Paradise to "recycle".

A records check revealed Mr. Featherstone was on felony probation for an arson conviction and had multiple outstanding arrest warrants. After Mr. Featherstone was detained, a probation search of his backpack yielded suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Featherstone was transported to Butte County Jail and booked on the arrest warrants with no bail. In addition to the arrest warrants, Mr. Featherstone was booked on fresh charges of PC 1203.2 (Probation Violation), HS 11377 (Possess a Controlled Substance), and HS 11364 (Possess Drug Paraphernalia). The bail for the fresh charges was set at $91,000.

The Paradise Police Department would like to thank our citizens for being observant and willing to call in suspicious activity.
