Commercial & Multifamily
Landscaping is necessary to mitigate the urbanization of the environment and provide aesthetic value to the property. All commercial and multi family sites require Landscaping as a part of construction. In most zones, 10% of the developed area is required to be landscaped. Landscaping is defined as an area predominately developed with plant material or natural landscape features, including lawn, ground cover, gardens, trees, shrubs, or other plant materials. Landscaped areas may include supplemental features such as pools, fountains, lighting, irrigation systems and sculptural elements.
The Town of Paradise has adopted a model water efficient landscape ordinance (MWELO) from the California State Department of Water Resources. All new landscaping required under a building permit must be designed and installed to the requirements and standards of MWELO.
For submittal and design requirements please review the Landscape Application checklist, Design standards, and Municipal code section 15.36 Landscape Materials.
Resources that may be helpful when designing plans are the Non Residential (including multifamily) water budget calculator, and the WUCOLS plant search for plant water use.
Landscape plans can be submitted at the same time as the building application, or they can be deferred. An application and landscape plans must be submitted to the planning division prior to 4-way/framing inspection.
