November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election
THREE SEATS ON THE PARADISE TOWN COUNCIL will be decided at the November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election. The successful candidates will each serve a four-year term of office beginning on the first Council Meeting in December 2024 through the first Council Meeting in December, 2028. The 2024 vacancies will occur as a result of the expiration of terms of office for the positions held by Greg Bolin, Steve Culleton and Rose Tryon. The Town of Paradise is consolidated with the state general election. Melanie Elvis, Paradise Deputy Town Clerk, serves as the election official for the Town of Paradise and issues nomination petitions and files campaign statements and documentation.
Nomination Period
The nomination period opens July 15, 2024 and closes August 9, 2024. Nomination petitions must be issued by the Town Clerk and it is recommended that candidates make an appointment and allow 30 minutes to review the candidate nomination process and necessary documents required. If an incumbent does not file for office, the nomination period will extend for five calendars days.
Candidates and Officeholder Information in Brief
Candidates and office holders are required to file certain financial and campaign information with the Town Clerk pursuant to Government code regulations that were enacted by the Political Reform Act of 1974. Copies of all Officeholder/Candidate and Political Action Committee Campaign Disclosure Statements are filed with the Paradise Town Clerk, the local filing official. If you are interested in running for public office in the Town of Paradise, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Must be 18 years or older
2. Must be a registered voter in the Town of Paradise at the time nomination papers are issued

CA Elections Code Section 10224.5
The public is forthwith noticed, per California Elections Code Section 10224.5, the following:
- There are three (3) open seats for Town Council Members to serve full four-year terms of office.
- Nomination papers have been furnished to two of the three incumbents eligible for reelection, Steve “Woody” Culleton and Greg Bolin.
- The Town of Paradise election is “at-large” and therefore there are no eligible incumbents for an open office due to redistricting.
- Nomination papers may be obtained at the Town Clerk/Election Official’s office at 5555 Skyway, Paradise, CA 95969 starting July 15, 2024, between hours of 8 am – 5pm Monday – Thursday.
- Nomination papers must be filed at the Town Clerk/Election Official’s office at 5555 Skyway, Paradise, CA 95969 between hours of 8 am – 5pm Monday – Thursday from November 15 – August 9, 2024. Town Hall will be open on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. only for the purpose of filing Town Council candidate nomination papers. If one or more incumbent Council Members have not filed nomination papers by 12:00 p.m. on August 9, 2024, any qualified elector other than the incumbent shall have until 5:00 p.m. on August 14, 2024, to file nomination papers for that elective office.
